About

With over 35 years of experience in the sport of cricket as a player, coach and turf wicket curator there was always the task of marking the creases for the weekends game.

We used to use a large timber framed construction that required a fair amount of effort to carry out to the middle of the ground.

To mark the lines we had to make up a mix of line marking powder with water and paint by hand every line required, even more lines for one day games, this task took about an hour of our time as we also used a straight edge with spacers to have even thickness of lines.

We then used an aluminium frame that was lighter and easier to handle but you had to be careful not to paint on the wrong side of the frame.

We still needed to paint the lines by hand or use a straight edge with spacers to have even thickness lines and there was no provisions for one day game wide lines.

No provisions for the 1ft lines on either side of the centre stump and no provisions for the 5ft lines on both sides of the wicket.

I then decided that something had to be designed to save the time and effort required to perform this weekly task.

We needed a device that was light and strong, easier to handle, more accurate, cleaner with a sharper finish to lines and a quicker method.

The design has been refined over a number of years to be as user friendly as possible.

With the CuratorMate stencil frame kit, all lines have been catered for, the stenciled design allows you to paint your lines either by spray or hand.

Provisions made for one day game wide lines with wide line locator blocks on the main stencil frame and a wide stencil frame that is separate so you don't mark them accidentally for two day games.

The wide stencil is placed over the locator blocks to mark your wide lines, it is combined with the 5ft stencil, just butt it up to the main frame when in position to get the correct position of the 5ft line.

A separate 1ft/Infill stencil frame is used to mark the 1ft lines and to also join your lines where the main stencil frame is joined.
